X Ray Cat Interviews Travel Bloggers from The Best World Yet by Marko ‘X Ray Cat’.
What is the secret behind the adventurous and passionate life of travel bloggers and freedom seekers?
How does it feel to reside nowhere and live everywhere?
How can YOU start globe-hopping and live the freedom lifestyle?
You’re about to discover the answers for yourself.
Andrea and Bryan Leblang from The Best World Yet
When my superpowers guided me to this awesome couple with a sweet wanderlust addiction I was addicted too:)
Like countless times before X Ray Cat was purring in gratitude.
Saying thanks to Universe, superpowers and to those two passionate globe-hoppers who truly make our world the best world yet.
In their own words:
In five, quick years we visited over 20 countries, seeking out thrilling adventures, unique events and unforgettable experiences around the world.
2015 marks the start of a BIG adventure – a time when we decided to follow a dream.
To live our passion. Packing everything we can fit in backpacks (leaving the rest behind)
we’ve got a one way ticket to EVERYWHERE, with plans to globe-hop for the foreseeable future.
In this pic it’s actually Andrea’s brother, not Bryan but I think this is just awesome pic: fun in the mud :)
Q: Are you guys crazy?
A: Maybe we are crazy. Crazy motivated? Crazy determined?
A wise man once said, “follow your dreams, or you’ll spend the rest of your life working for someone who did”.
Perhaps we are going to be successful because we’re just crazy enough to think we can be.
Perhaps we won’t be successful, and we’re just two backpackers who took a few years off. Either way, we’re happy.
I was so addicted and charged like the Duracell bunny when I first discovered The Best World Yet.
X-raying through their unforgettable experiences around the world I had but one choice-
to share their passion and help spread the love with you and all the dream chasers out there.
I believe you wanna x-ray through this
Little after doing the post and getting amazing feedback from them I knew I have to dive deeper into their dream lifestyle.
I got in touch with them and ask if they are willing to share their secrets with you how you can become who you really want to be and globe-hopp yourself into the life you’ve always wanted.
They happily agreed and here’s your chance to benefit from their secrets :)
Travel Blogger Interview with The Best World Yet
1) When did you get bitten by the travel bug?
My husband and I were both bitten by the travel bug before we met, with interest piqued via study abroad programs.
Our passion for travel created an insatiable urge, and we’ve spent the past six years exploring the world together as much as possible, using every vacation day our jobs allowed.
It started to feel like we were working to feed our passions instead of just living them. In May 2015, we took a leap of faith.
We sold our things, rented our condo, and I left the only home I’d ever known with plans to globe-hop for the foreseeable future.
Our plan is to circle the world, hopping from country to country, trying to live as locals in each destination.
Our life has changed drastically over the past few months. We both have remote capable careers, and we work from wherever we are in the world (so long as there is wifi connection!) to support our nomadic lifestyle.
2) Was it all sunshine and rainbows or did you have any doubts and fears when going after your dreams?
It’s definitely not all sunshine and rainbows! When we chased our dreams, we left a lot behind.
Forget the possessions – it was easy for us to get rid of our worldly belongings and downsize to backpacks.
We lived in a great neighborhood with close friends and family nearby. We realize that our decision, while opening new doors of opportunity, would close some as well.
It’s scary leaving your comfort zone, especially to do something that seems crazy to many.
3) If there were any road bumps on your way following your passion, how did you overcome them and what motivated you to keep going?
There are always bumps in the road, even with a lifestyle that may seem glamorous and exciting!
Our routine of circling the globe, seeking out unique adventures along the way, is no doubt an incredible experience.
However, living without the comforts of home can be trying, and traveling as a way of life can be exhausting. You never really feel ‘settled’.
With all of the moving pieces and constant changing of time zones, it’s also hard to keep up with a remote career.
Our passion for travel drives us forward, and although we have experienced trials and tribulations along the way (and I’m sure there are many more to come!) we are living our dream and that keeps us going.
4) How many countries have you visited?
Over the past six years, we’ve visited around 20 countries together, but this was before we began our round the world trip!
5) Is there a big traveling goal for you eg visit 100 countries..all the countries in the world?
We aren’t really counting countries and have no goals to visit a specific number.
Our goal is to really get to know each location we visit – to actually ‘live’ in each country, experiencing the different cultures and new ways of thinking.
Part of our trip’s inspiration is to find a more ‘permanent’ place to reside. I don’t see us ‘settling down’ anytime soon, as this is the perfect time in life to feed our wanderlust, but we are evaluating each stop on our journey as a potential spot to return.
Who knows, maybe we’ll find a place that we’ll never want to leave! With no time-frame, schedule or final destination in sight, we are living in the moment!
6) If you could choose one destination where you had to live at least a year, what would it be and why?
So far, top of my list would be Barcelona, Spain. I’ve spent a lot of time in the city and could see myself returning for an extended period.
Being part Spanish, I feel very connected with the culture, and Barcelona is a city that seems to have everything.
An international hotspot with fabulous food and culture, beautiful mountains, a killer city beach and the perfect climate or a sun-lovin girl like me.
7) Is there a destination you never want to visit again and why?
Athens, Greece, but not because I had a bad experience. We spent the first portion of our trip exploring the islands, and stopped off in Athens for a bit afterwards.
Seeing the Acropolis was absolutely incredible! A sight worth traveling to, although for me it was the only sight in Athens worth seeing.
We enjoyed a dinner in Plaka, the oldest, most charming part of the city, but the rest of Athens didn’t seem inviting.
I can’t see myself visiting again, but I highly recommend a visit to anyone who hasn’t yet been!
8) How do you fund all your travels?
My husband and I both have remote capable careers. His career has always been remote, allowing him to work from home/anywhere else in the world for many years.
I recently made the change from a highly demanding career, heavily involved with in-person meetings and events, to a position that is remote-capable.
Our laptops are our offices, and we often work EST standard hours (although they are often odd-hours, depending on where we are in the world!), making time to explore and enjoy our surroundings.
9) What is your motto and mission in life?
Funny, I’ve never been asked to give a life motto before!
Lately, our motto as well as our mission seems to be, “Reside nowhere. Live everywhere!”
This is always at the top of my mind, especially coming from a time when we felt we had a place of residence but were missing out on life.
We may be nomads, with no place of residence, but we are living life to the fullest wherever we go!
10) What is your best advice for someone stuck on their daily hell wanting to break free, discover the world and be who they really want to be?
My advice may be different than you might expect. I’m not one to promote quitting your job, and leaving ‘the real world’ to chase your dream.
Our goal of endlessly traveling the world is one we worked towards for years, making sure to create a sustainable way to live this lifestyle, but this lifestyle might not make sense for everyone.
I think that anyone can discover the world, and be who they really want to be – it’s a matter of discovering what you are passionate about and feeding that passion.
If your passion is travel, and you want to discover the world, then find a way to do it – even if that means simply planning a trip or two that allows you to escape the daily grind.
That being said, if you come to a point where you are no longer happy with the life you are living, it’s never too late to make a new life for yourself.
Stepping outside of your comfort zone is a smart move, especially if you are motivated, and dedicated to working hard to achieve your dream.
